Getting Ready for Spring

Hello everyone. We are starting to plant seeds. We hope to have different perennials to offer in the spring. We will open Mountain Gardens in mid-April. The plants in the greenhouses are dormant and resting for the winter. Feel free to email or call if you have questions or would like to suggest new plant choices for us to try.

Bulb Class

We had a Bulb dividing and planting class on Sunday, August 29. We had a good turn out. Several people brought iris to divide. We dug some iris and kniphofia to divide and share. Jo taught the class and discussed the difference between bulbs, corms, rhizomes, etc. She went over planting depths, when to plant, how to fertilize and water. We will have bulbs for sale in mid-September.

Composting Class

Mountain Gardens had a Composting Class on Aug. 1, 2010. We had a great turnout, 45 enthusiastic composters!. Our guest speaker, Tam, is a Master Composter. She had a lot of interesting statistics and info on what to add to your compost pile. We have all this information at the garden center. We can also help you start a worm composting bin, we have worms.
